As I will be away from the UK from 12 June until the AGM, and as we will be pushed for time after the AGM, I propose that if you would like to enter the Plate Competition (and if eligible I encourage you to enter!), you send me ONE PDI not later than Monday 9 June. Please send to me at this email address in the usual way with image title, using ‘Plate’ as the email subject. Please also bring along to the 26 June meeting up to ONE Colour Print and ONE mono print.
Following on from the success of the last WIP, here is another opportunity to bring your prints along for discussion with colleagues.
The methodology set in place for 13 March will be followed which means that Members are asked to bring two prints that they consider to be “works in progress” and, in case numbers are smaller than anticipated, up to three “spares” to be used if time permits i.e. up to five altogether. The prints do not need to be mounted and can be any size up to A3.
Members who do not have a printer can send DPIs to [email protected] who will either print them, or pass them on to other members to print. Files can be Tiffs, DNG’s or Jpegs, and have enough pixels for a reasonable print on A3 paper – say 2339 x 3307 or above.
On arrival at the hall members will be asked to join others at one of the tables laid out – the prints will then be discussed and critiqued. “Spares” will be asked for if needed so that the number of prints on each table is roughly equal. Using our display stand, a spokesperson, or persons, from each table will be asked to show each of the prints on their table to all members present and provide a summary of observations and suggestions they and their fellow members have made. All other members will be able to share their thoughts and suggestions as we go along.
Nick Thornton will be showing his images and sharing some memories of SE Asia.
CAPTURING THE SPIRIT OF THE SOUTH WALES COALFIELD
Walter trained as a Fine Artist specialising in photography, subsequently working as a Community Artist, and Course Leader in Photographic Studies at Brockenhurst College. He recently received the national award One Voice Wales and has exhibited widely. Walter is the President of Merthyr Camera Club.
Presentations by our two members, Patrick Davies and Geoff Poole.
Patrick’s will be entitled “Madagascar – the Wilderness Trek”, Geoff’s will be “Artificial Intelligence and photography”.
Nick Craddock has very kindly arranged for club members to visit The South Wales Aviation Museum on Wednesday 30 April, starting at 11.00 am. The cost is £10 per head and payment can be made via each member’s “account”.
Located in Hangar 872, Bro Tathan North, St Athan, CF62 4QR, it is the largest independent aircraft museum in Wales. It is all under cover. As well as plenty of photo opportunities, volunteers will be present to provide interesting stories about many of the exhibits together with some of the history of aviation.
The ‘Way Forward’ discussion will follow the format of the previous year.
After the break, some of our members have kindly offered to give some talks of general interest.
We have decided to have another at providing advice that might help members achieve better results in their photography.
