Presentations and Christmas Social

This will be our last meeting before Christmas. There will be three members’ presentations, followed by an informal get together.

Competition 2

Our first meeting in 2026 will be a Competition. So get your prints and DPIs ready and look out for emails for details.

Members may submit up to one colour print and one monochrome print. These should be sturdily mounted in a mount not exceeding 500x400mm, and labelled with the image title, membership number (not name) and number of the Competition. They should be handed in on the evening of the competition.

Members may also submit one colour digital image (DPI) as a jpeg file, AND one monochrome DPI. They should be sized to be no greater than 1920 pixels along the horizontal edge and no greater than 1080 pixels along the vertical edge. The file name should be allocated in the format:
title -membership number – competition number, (e.g. Sand castle_17_Comp1).

Please send DPIs to geoffpoolephotography@gmail.com and put “Comp 1” in the subject title of the email. Although your membership number should always be in the file name, it’s helpful if you sign the email with your name, so that I can sort through them more quickly. Your name will not be seen by other members.

Work in Progress 2

In this WIP session, we recommend that you bring along images that might be suitable for the 2026 Welsh Salon, for constructive discussion and suggestions.

TBA

Steve le Prevost – Zoom meeting

This will be a Zoom meeting given by the UK’s very popular Steve Prevost. See https://www.stevenleprevost.com/

Steve’s presentation is called “A Feeling of Impressionism” and covers work from 2015 to the present day. His goal is to create artwork that portrays mood, atmosphere and emotion but with occasional surrealism and impressionism included. Achieving this may involve purposely removing the clinical sharpness that is generally associated with a photograph or possibly working on the colour palette to allow the colours to bleed and become more fluid. Steve will explain his approach in detail during the Zoom meeting,

Work in Progress 3

This will be our final WIP session.

Members are asked to select two prints that they consider to be “works in progress” and, in case numbers are smaller than anticipated, up to three “spares” to be used if time permits i.e. up to five prints altogether. The prints do not need to be mounted and can be any size up to A3. Members who do not have a printer – please contact  [email protected].

At the hall, tables will be laid out for 3 groups. Before the tea break, each group will discuss one print, before moving on to the next. After the tea break, one or more spokespersons from each table will be asked to show each of the prints on their table to all members present, and provide a summary of observations and suggestions they and their fellow members have made. This provides opportunities for further comments from the floor.

The Way Forward – EGM

The Club’s position will be outlined in this Emergency General Meeting.
